PCSX2 is a free and open-source PlayStation 2 emulator that lets you play PS2 games on your PC. It emulates the console's hardware using a combination of MIPS CPU interpreters, recompilers, and a virtual machine that manages hardware states and system memory. After nearly two decades of development, PCSX2 can now run the vast majority of the PS2 library at full speed, including well-known titles like Final Fantasy X and Devil May Cry 3. Beyond simply replicating the original experience, it adds modern enhancements such as custom resolutions up to 8K, upscaling, anti-aliasing, texture filtering, and save states, making classic PS2 games look and run better than ever. With active development and cross-platform support on Windows, Linux, and Mac, PCSX2 remains the most complete and widely used PS2 emulator available.
To use PCSX2, you'll need a legally dumped PS2 BIOS file from your own console, placed in the emulator's BIOS folder. You'll also need game ISOs ripped from discs you own. For best performance, a dual-core CPU or better, at least 2 GB of RAM, and a DirectX/OpenGL-compatible GPU are recommended.
